Who is the Centurion? He is a husband, father, follower of Christ and a fighter. His name is Jason Belyew. Jason is not only fighter in the cage but in life. Scales Off Media will be one of Jason’s sponsors in what is rumored to be his last amateur fight on June 20th for RISE. As a filmmaker and photography, I always look for opportunities to give a different perspective on the world. After some time off from the sport of mixed martial arts to regroup and really consider what the future holds, June 20th will another step in Jason’s journey. Here is a promotional video filmed and edited by Scales Off Media. I look forward to sharing behinds the scenes footage and photos from RISE on June 20th at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

A DEMO REEL is a short film with a showcasing your work over a certain period of time to help demonstrate your talent and expertise in cinematography, lighting or grading. I think of it as a visual resume to potential clients or employers.
In my opinion its essential to have a demo reel, If you are an editor, colorist or cinematographer. Keep it current , I remember going about a year without a new one and realizing how much I had grown over the past year but it was not demonstrated. As your skill sets and content expands, make sure that potential clients see that growth in your work.
Here is my current demo reel of certain project in 2014
I am looking forward to creating another demo from my work in 2015. Its is a great year so far.
I had the opportunity to create a few promotional videos for this amazing local steel band called Pandemonium. I had to remember that I was filming, because the rhythm can get you moving. Not a good idea when you have a camera in your hand.
Here is the promotional video I completed for them.
Currently working on another project for Pandemonium.
X-Treme Fighting Organization (XFO) is a premier fighting organization in the midwest.
Shooting for Chicagosmma for a several years now, I have had the opportunity to witness some of the Chicago areas preimer mixed martial arts talent ringside. Capturing every punch, kick and submission is easy, i look for the opportunities to tell the story behind the action. XFO 55 was the most recent fight I created images for on April 25th, 2015.

I believe the key to creating a great promotion is understanding your clients business and listening to the little details. This was a promo I recently filmed and edited for Superior Felt and Filtration. This was a one day shot at their headquarters in McHenry, IL.
They make a lot of the components for the products we use everyday. It was fascinating to see the production process and the company takes pride in what they produce.
This project turned out great! As the director and cinematographer its always a challenge for me to find that balance. It was a pleasure to work with someone who works as hard as I do to make sure everything is right. With a two man crew of Assistant Director Earl Dickens and myself this was a one day shot starting at 6:30am on a cold but sunny day in March. We had two locations – the bedroom scene which was setup in my studio of scales off media and restaurant Chooch’s Pizzeria of Elgin,IL. As was scouting locations, I discovered they had a nice upstairs that was used for private parties. I knew this would serve as the perfect location for the meetup between the boss and hit man.
It was a shoot that almost was postponed due to a water pipes erupting earlier that week in my building. The drying fans were being removed the morning of the shoot.
I really enjoy telling a great story using visuals that depict waht the artist want to share with the audience. The modern music videos have lost the art of telling a story and really expresses the artist emotions.
Here is the music film, enjoy!!!
Recently worked as Director of Photography and Cinematographer on a project in Wisconsin with Director Joshua Hall. Great Crew!

Here is the completed film, Eddie Curran did an amazing job editing. Enjoy!!
Warning: Some language!
This was a vision discussed a few years ago with Tim Bolton about creating a series of shorts called Urban Hymns This is the first of several that are in the works.
Here are the words :
*I’ve Been Repossessed*
I’ve been repossessed,
that I might,
reap the best
fruit of the harvest.
in this office
knowing I’m honest with the lawless
Knowing I’m honest with them all, lest
I bring an offering like Cain–
then murder my brothers with a gospel that’s not the same
Will fear swallow love?
I serve a God who reigns from above,
and gives signs with a dove
and a rainbow.
And I know that it rained those
And the sign of peace came through the broken sun rays
while the Prince of Peace
came walking on the crashing sea waves.
And Peter tried to walk.
But, will fear swallow faith?
In Christ there’s a new race.
Being the Final Adam and the Second Man.
Crafted by God’s Own Hand and
placed in the womb of Mary–
the hope of Anna who tarried–
in the temple, for the Messiah,
while an angel visited Zechariah..and left him speechless.
Will fear swallow hope?
Our salvation floats a-bove the wrath.
But we have brothers who are being sawn in half.
And Satan? That cat just sits back and laughs,
because God chooses to
brandish the rod instead of the staff.
But he loves us.
So much more than fear is gluttonous.
And we see our reproof come to truth in the sign of Jonah.
Couple months ago, I was given the opportunity to create images for Superior Felt & Filtration. It was a two day shoot covering the facility and products they produce.
I worked with the Paula Wray, Senior Marketing Manager at Superior to really get a very clear understanding of their requirements. Some products where shot in my studio which allowed me the freedom to extensively style and light. I strived to create art pieces with each item that gives the product character.
I also created fresh headshots for the owners.

Are you prepared for the battle?
The time has come for us to prepare the war between us and the elements are you ready for the war. The Fall has passed and Winter is upon us bringing snow that covers the landscapes until our friend Spring returns. I shot this experimental piece last year to test out the new 24-70mm lens.
Those in the warm locations around the globe only look on in awe as we succumb to an onslaught of aggressive and brutal enemy know as SNOW.
I wish all safe travels and the heart to continue, be brave my friends!
